Adventures Are Healthy Too: Backpacking the Sawtooths
If you’ve never been backpacking, you need to go.
Imagine having your belongings, everything you’ll need to survive for the next 3 days, lightly packed on your back, hugging your body only the way an Osprey can, and hitting a trail into the backcountry wilderness of Idaho with a group of 12 God-loving people. There is something special about hiking to places the general public hasn’t been to and having conversations with friends who are as quick to think deeply as they are to crack a joke. I’ve been blessed to experience places where the trails run out and you’re so exhausted but the view is worth it. I’ve now seen crystal clear blue water and a sky so bright at night you’d be shocked that city lights ever manage to mute it out.
Being able to see stars that I didn’t even know existed in such a quantity will really make you realize how tiny you are as a human being and that be-ing is the best part of life. To exist. To observe and feel and experience.
Of the few photos I took along this short trip, my morning coffee in front of Goat Lake in the Sawtooths, is my favorite memory and forever ingrained in my mind. I am so thankful to be alive and to experience these kinds of moments and I encourage you to go and find what sets your soul on fire, whatever adventure that may be.
